What an end to 2012

Article1 Header Image Last year, we were just one and a half points from retaining the House Trophy for the second year. Very well done to Neuchatel, but beware; we'll be aiming higher than ever this year.

We wish to welcome our year 7's who have already settled in and become completely immersed in the house system, competing in many of the interhouse competitions. Last year they won the year 7 quiz and also won the drama cup for Sorrento, so a big thank you and well done to them.

Help Helsinki help the Muzovu Project

muzovo logo 250px This year members of Helsinki house are supporting the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF); a charity committed to helping conservation efforts throughout Africa and Asia. DSWF are currently supporting the The Muzovu Project which works with 19 Zambian schools to provide specialist conservation presentations and lessons to more than 3000 children each year. The schools are all in areas bordering the Kafue National Park where DSWF help to run an elephant orphanage.

Anti-bullying competition 2012

Poster1 7N 150px To coincide with Anti-Bullying Week this year (19-23 November 2012) we held an inter-house competition where students were asked to create posters and poems communicating the anti-bullying message.

Some well designed and heart-felt contributions were received and here are the winners:

Delphi FIFA competition

FIFA 13 The first ever Delphi FIFA competition will begin on the 14th January. The tournament bracket is displayed on the Delphi House board along with rules and regulations of the competition. You can also view an online version of the bracket on the following website;

Mr White and Mr Wallace are entering the competition and are bigging up their chances. Mr White has been overheard saying that the Delphi students are rubbish at FIFA and stand no chance agains the might of the Dane Court PE department. I think that this is our chance to prove him wrong and Evan Williams will get his opportunity in the first round.

All entrants will be paying £1 which is being donated to Delphi's house charity, the Teenage Cancer Trust.

UPDATE: The winner of the tournament was Bryn Llewellyn. Congratulations!!

Christmas cake competition

MO1L2368 150px Year 8 students have been particularly busy in their food technology lesson recently. Each prepared and baked a small Christmas cake and then went on to ice and decorate it to their own design. The food technology staff received the completed masterpieces this week and put more than 150 of them on display in their kitchen spaces.
