Climbing competition 2012

Dane Court's first inter-house climbing competition took place between 20 November and 4 December. Each house was invited to enter up to 14 competitors (two from each year group). An impressive 55 students took up the challenge and turned up to compete in competition events at weekly intervals with thirty of those attending all three sessions.
Climbing skill varied enormously from those with several year's experience to complete novices. Nevertheless everyone had a great time and learned much about a rapidly growing sport.
Overall personal scores reveal some very impressive performances and not just by those with a lot of experience.
Dane Court's six houses have again taken part in the Christmas tree decorating competition. This year's entries are somwhat more extravagant and a great deal of care has been taken with the charming hand-made decorations. If there were a special prize for the most impressive tree-top decoration it would go to Tallin's enormous orange star and Delphi's ginger bread-laden tree would definitely receive the prize for offering the most food.
Friday 16 November was the date for this year's Children in Need and to celebrate (and raise some money) Delphi staff and sixth formers dressed up in "black tie" for the day. This gave all of us the opportunity to dust of the tux and show off the sparkly shoes all for a good cause.
Mr Wood is embarking on the "month of the moustache" along with a number of other members of staff. Movember is a yearly event in November where men grow moustaches to raise awareness of mens' health issues such as testicular cancer.
The closing date for entries in the school's first interhouse photographic competition was 22 October.
