Jazz Workshop - May 2023

jazz wshop may 2023 420pxYear 7 and 8 students took part in a Jazz workshop led by a professional musician from Deal Music and Arts Education on Wednesday the 24th May. They learnt to play a brilliant funk piece called Pass the Peas by James Brown (based on a D minor pentatonic scale), and had a lot of fun in the process. Students pushed themselves outside their comfort zones with many trying improvisation for the first time, and some playing in front of peers for the first time. Very well done to all involved, but in particular well done to Aurora, Winter, Aaron, D'Angelo, Kaiya and Prudence for being prepared to have a go at a solo! The Music Department is very proud of how well they collaborated during the workshop; have a listen to the outcome below.
