The devastation caused by the earthquake in Nepal on Saturday 26 April 2015 has left tens of thousands dead or injured with many more homeless or so frightened that aftershocks will trigger the collapse of more buildings that they sleep in cars and tents in open spaces. Nepal's emergency services are struggling to cope with the size of the disaster and the rest of the world is responding.

Here at Dane Court we really celebrate Red Nose Day, with the idea that each house dresses up as something beginning with the first initial of their house, meaning that Helsinki students (and teachers!) dress as something beginning with H. This is a great way for all to display their creativity whilst also raising money for Children In Need. Overall Helsinki as a house raised an amazing £179.57. As house captains we are really proud of everyone who managed to support this excellent cause.
A huge congratulations to all of our Helsinki wolves that took part in this year's House Music Cup, thanks to the input of everyone we managed to climb to an overall third place! Helsinki this year had a wide variety of styles of performances, including
A Capella singing from Erika and Daisy, and our year eight Ensemble (which gained an extra five points for our large number of male participants - well done guys!), a piano and vocal combination from our Year elevens Christina and Beatrice, and a radical rap performance from Ben in year eleven. Thanks to the hard work and courage of these students we did really well and also had an awesome time!
Dane Court students and staff raised well over £1000 for this year's Comic Relief campaign on Friday 13 March.
The Mario kart competition took place in the week beginning the 2 March and Helsinki started off with a bang! Luke, Theo, Ethan and Miska managed to place first in the Year 7 competition - Well done! The rest of the week concluded with lots of chanting, cheering and overall having a great time! Although we did not come first overall in this competition, it was great to see students interacting and getting involved in the house. Well done and thank you to everyone that took part - we hope you had as much fun as we did!
