A roaring success as Joseph and Angel speak at the Natural History Museum

small On Thursday 15 March Angel Francis and Joseph Weitzel joined Mr White at the Natural History Museum as key note speakers at the Global Canvas Conservation Youth Exhibition, organised by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. Joseph and Angel opened the talk with a thought provoking piece of poetry and then followed up with excellent speeches on rhinos and elephants. They tackled the disturbing levels of poaching facing these animals, as well as drawing on their personal experiences of seeing these animals in the wild whilst with Mr White in Namibia on the last school expedition. Their talk was very well received and it was impressive to see two of our students command a large global audience, in one of the greatest venues in the world, with such ease.

Kent school games sportshall athletics competition

P1050612 On Friday 9 March we took three teams to the Kent school games sportshall athletics competition, year seven girls, year seven boys and year eight girls. Dame Kelly Holmes was there to start proceedings. The competition was fierce with the prospect of the top two placed teams going through to the regional finals later this month.

The new Prefects are chosen by interview with Sixth Form staff, then they and staff vote for Prefects or House Captains who they think would make suitable leaders. From a very strong field of enthusiastic and talented Year 12 students, Dominic Woodward and Beth Humby were chosen as our Head Boy and Head Girl. They will represent Dane Court at many official functions and will also organise our Prefect team. Assisting will be the Deputy Head Boys Charlie Stokes, James Knox, Max Yu, and the Deputy Head Girls Abby Suttle, Zoe Woodward and Maria Jane.
