On Wednesday 23 February, we were delighted to welcome nearly 100 Year 11 students from local schools to Dane Court. Our senior team spent a very enjoyable evening in one to one meetings with some very talented, ambitious and impressive young people, who were keen to discuss the International Baccalaureate course most-suited to them. In an increasingly competitive university and work environment for young people, it is little wonder that more Year 11s than ever before are keen to enrol on the most extensive and flexible programme of sixth form study available anywhere in the UK. With 940 hours of direct teaching time per academic year available at Dane Court, the IB continues to enhance its global reputation as the world's elite further education qualification.
We are delighted that so many local young people are keen to study with us, and It is no surprise that the majority are set on the IB Diploma, a programme with a track record of helping 40% of its students achieve a place at a top university, compared to 24% of their A level counterparts. It is likewise no surprise that the IB Careers Programme, which prepares students equally well for university, salaried degree apprenticeships, or a wide range of other paid higher level apprenticeships or work opportunities, continues to prove such an attractive alternative proposition.
We were very impressed with the quality of applicants from other schools in the area, and we were delighted to make conditional offers of places to over 60 students last week. This means that next year, the Dane Court sixth form will be a more vibrant, exciting and popular place to be than ever before, and it is not too late to be a part of it. If you would like to make a late application or arrange a meeting to discuss Dane Court sixth form, please contact Miss Bowen via This email address is being protected from spambots. Online safety - Follow the GOLDen Rules
Details
Written by Mr M Alderson
Online safety is an important part of keeping children safe at school. All of our pupils are taught how to be safe and behave appropriately online, but we can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work together. It's important that as adults, we take an active interest in our children's online lives and show a willingness to engage in the digital world with them. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, always contact 999 for police assistance.

Calling all 2021 GCSE and IB students, your Summer 2021 exam certificates are now ready for collection. Certificates can be collected from the main reception between 2:00pm and 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and between 2:00pm and 4:00pm Friday. Your certificates are important legal documents that you will need throughout the course of your career. Employers, colleges and universities often insist on seeing original qualification certificates. It is therefore vital that you collect your certificates and keep them safe. Regulations do not allow certificates to be put sent by normal post due to the risk of loss or damage. If you are unable to collect the certificates yourself, you can nominate someone else (this includes parents and other family members or friends) to collect your certificates by emailing Claire Sayer at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or Julie Evans at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Certificates will not be issued to anyone other than the person named on them without written permission and ID.
Exam Certificates - 2020 and before
We have many unclaimed exam certificates (believe it or not, we even have certificates dating as far back as the 1960s) that we are keen to get to their owners. If you took your exams prior to 2021 and you didn’t collect your certificates, please email Claire Sayer at This email address is being protected from spambots. Kent Mountain Centre 2019
Details

On the 27 October 2019, thirty one year 9 students made the journey to North Wales for the annual outdoor activities week of adventure and excitement. Our fourty year relationship with Kent Mountain Centre (KMC) has seen hundreds of Dane Court students make that journey to participate in one of the most challenging and adventurous programmes offered by any visiting school.
As always, the group were well prepared for the challenges of the mountainous Snowdonia National Park and the nearby rugged coastline. With expert guidance from the tireless KMC instructors, our students reached mountain summits and tackled river gorges, mountain crags and sea cliffs. Evenings were filled with outdoor problem solving activities in the grounds of the Centre and a visit to the excellent local indoor climbing wall. And, now in its tenth year, the Dane Court KMC blog was maintained every evening by a dedicated band of students and staff who produced illustrated daily reports to update parents and friends back in Kent.
Dane Court Grammar School had two excellent groups of year 10 students who qualified for the final of this year's Business of Enterprise competition and one of those returned from London with the top prize. Last Friday (5 July 2019), the two groups travelled in hope to NatWest's HQ in Bishopsgate with their well thought out and rehearsed business propositions and both performed with commendable skill.
The Dane Court Grammar School music department are pleased to have been awarded The Music Mark Award in recognition of a commitment to providing high quality music education for all children and young people. This is our fourth year receiving this recognition and we hope to continue providing great music education to our learners for many years to come!
The Dane Court Grammar School Parents Association's monthly boot fairs usually take place at the school from 6:30am on the second Saturday of each month with breaks over winter and during the summer holiday. Read more...
