On Tuesday 15 February 50 students from year nine took part in a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) enrichment day run by the Smallpeice Trust.
The students worked in groups of five to build a model wind turbine that would actually work and produce electricity. This was an excellent opportunity for the students to work as a team with people from other forms whilst learning about the importance of wind turbines and the challenges of building them, under the expert guidance of a real engineer who has worked in the renewable energy industry. The day finished off with presentations from each group where they had the chance to promote their design.

As the sun started to set on a beautiful March day, Mr Wallace nervously paced the pitch at Margate Football Club, contemplating the task that lay ahead.
Seven months earlier, the Year 8 boys had just come off the pitch after defeating Sir Roger Manwood's 4 - 0 away. Goals from Adams, Paxman and Cohen ensured a comfortable victory. Now, only five games on, lay the biggest test of all: a final versus The Howard School, who had strolled past Dane Court in the quarter finals the previous year.

On Friday 13 May 2011 our current Year Elevens went on study leave before the start of their GCSE examinations. On their last day of school we celebrated their transition to further education by the whole school gathering to watch the beautifully and formally attired young people walk down the red carpet towards the entrance of the school. This walk was accompanied by music and in order to capture the moment Mr White and Mr Dean took pictures for us which can be viewed by clicking READ MORE... below. The Year Eleven students then attended an extended assembly in which students and teachers gathered to remember times past and to celebrate bright futures to come.

A day to remember...
Spirits were high on Friday 27 May as Year 13 students arrived at what was officially their last day of school. But this was to be no ordinary day and this was no ordinary sixth form group!
