Evening elephants

Business of Enterprise competition 2010

The Optique! teamWhile in Year 10 our current Year 11 students took part in East Kent Business Partnership’s Business of Enterprise competition. Throughout the course of the year the whole year group worked in teams creating a business product or service which was then judged by local business leaders. Our school winner  SpreadSplats with their idea for sandwich toppings represented the school in the county finals held at Pfizer Plc.
EBP Kent have just announced that another of our teams, Optique, have won an award for exceptional and continuous teamwork. They beat over 350 other teams and have won a trip to the BBC Centre in London. Well done Optique.

Inter-House talent shows

The House Captains in 'Snow White'Forget the X Factor, Dane Court had talent in abundance at the end of the Christmas Term!

The traditional climax to the term did not disappoint, with two stunning showcases of junior and senior singers, dancers and musicians. Back in the 'old' East Hall in the nick of time, the Tech Team also did a brilliant job of lighting and providing special effects (and possible heart attacks for staff who were worried that the smoke machine would set of those fire alarms we all love so much!)

Year nine valentines bistro

In Food Technology lessons this half term, Year 9 have again been designing and making meals for Valentine's Day. This year they went a step further and set up a 'Blind Date' Bistro for invited adults. They had a great time pairing up teachers, who entered into the spirit of it very well.

The Technology plaza came to life as it changed into a pink, romantic environment, with hearts, flowers, soft music, tables for two and delicious food. The teachers were attentively cared for by the waiters and waitresses, who looked just the part. The food was gorgeous – and all of this in a 50 minute lesson.
Well done year nine!!
