On the nights of 4 to 7 July, weeks of planning and commitment by dozens of students and staff culminated in a remarkable production of Annie; the classic rags-to-riches musical set in 1930s America.
The cast was headed by two "Annies" (Gabriella Gonzalez-Bello and Shona Buwu) taking it in turns to play the central character of the little orphan girl. Strong performances from Ben Hoenes as Oliver Warbucks, Lilia Grossmith (Lily St. Regis) and Grace Offen (Daniel "Rooster" Hannigan) were impressive highlights amongst the energetic choreography and thoroughly entertaining scenes featuring a large and dedicated cast.
Mrs Stivarius's pet dog, Betty, won the hearts of the audience every night when she appeared playing the part of Sandy, an abandoned mixed–breed dog that Annie rescues and becomes her faithful companion.
Under the direction of Mr Stanley, Miss Field and Miss McWilliam worked with students in all years to perfect the dance moves and ensure justice was done to the witty script. Mr Henderson rehearsed the music numbers with the soloists and chorus then assembled a large and talented orchestra which added real power and sparkle to production.
Our congratulations and thanks go to everyone involved.
