Pitch perfect

NCS Nov 2019 250pxWhilst the eyes of the world were trained on a certain rugby pitch in Japan, Dane Court sixth formers were involved in a different kind of pitch, taking part in “The Big Pitch” in front of Ramsgate Mayor Councillor Raushan Ara.

Under the aegis of the National Citizen Service, a Government funded scheme designed to promote community engagement and social awareness amongst teenagers, the Dane Court students pitched their Social Action Project to Councillor Ara .The keynote of the proposition centred around the recognition of the profound influence of art and physical activity on feelings of wellbeing and mental health amongst teenagers.

Councillor Ara commented that “The presentations were very well thought out and explanatory. I would like to wish everybody involved the very best of luck with their projects”.
The sixth formers then translated their pitch into action and ran a “Joy through Art in Action” workshop in Ramsgate for those in years 7-13. The workshop was well received by the participants with plans to build on its legacy with further workshops exploring creative writing in a bid to promote further messages of inclusion and social confidence.
