Dane Court Grammar School is very sorry to announce the death of Miss Alison Sonnex.
Miss Sonnex had taught at Dane Court since 1995, in the languages department and as the school’s Coordinator of Special Educational Needs (SENCO). We do not yet have full details confirmed, but we understand that Miss Sonnex died suddenly, of natural causes, whilst on holiday.
The school community is shocked by Alison’s death. Our thoughts are particularly with Miss Sonnex’s husband and her family. We are working hard to support Miss Sonnex’s students and her colleagues over the coming days, weeks and months.
Miss Sonnex was a gifted linguist, teaching Italian, German and French. Her classes will be taught by other languages teachers, including Mr Mills, former Head of Languages at Dane Court. Mrs Holmes, who has been joint SENCO for the past year, will continue to coordinate the work of the special needs department, with her team of teaching assistants.
