During the summer holiday’s, Olivia Miles, 10H, took part in the British Summer Swimming Championships in Sheffield.
The championships is a week long swimming gala consisting of heats swum in the morning and the finals in the evening session of the same day. To qualify for the chance to swim, you have to be ranked nationally within the top 24 in your age group. There is a two month period between March and May where you can compete against other swimmers in your age group, to gain your place on the rankings.
Olivia competed in four events: 400m Individual Medley, 400m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle and 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay. Olivia obtained personal best times, making 2 finals and in the 800m Freestyle she came 3rd, receiving a British Bronze medal.
