London, Saturday 9 November 2013
Mrs Baker presented to a sixth form conference at Kings College London in her capacity as AQA's Chief Examiner for GCE Food Technology. She spoke about the many career opportunities which stem from this subject and gave examples of student success stories from Dane Court. Many teachers at the conference said they had been inspired by what Mrs Baker had said and by her enthusiasm for the subject. The conference was organised by the British Nutrition Foundation in conjunction with the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board. The whole day event included presentations by a range of speakers from the nutrition foundation and food industry, including themes such as 'Tackling climate change through livestock'; 'UK food consumption and production – a marketing perspective'; 'Ensuring food traceability and quality in the twenty first century'; 'New food product development – concept to launch' and 'Nutrition update – Snacking and Hydration'.
