Following the success of last year's House Projects, Dane Court Grammar School is again excited to be able to offer our students fantastic project-based learning experiences at the end of the summer term of this academic year.
To allow the students to participate in this engaging and challenging part of their education, normal teaching timetables will be collapsed and all students in Years 7-10 will participate in a House Project from Monday 15 July 2013 to Thursday 18 July 2013 (inclusive).

Year 12 students will complete their Group 4 project and take part in Theory of Knowledge activities towards their IB diplomas or Career-Related Certificate qualifications during this time.

Each House will be working on a different project. The projects centre on the following themes: Thanet's Coastline (Barcelona); Art and Conservation (Delphi); Fashion and Media (Helsinki); Sporting Events (Neuchâtel); links with local primary schools (Sorrento); and a Cultural/Community based project (Tallinn).
All projects have been designed to allow the students to develop a range of key skills including research; problem solving; evaluation and analysis; investigation; team working; communication and oral/written presentation; internationalism; and responsible learning.

Each project will culminate in the students presenting a creative solution to the problem posed on the Monday morning and there will be a final showcase event on the afternoon of Thursday 18 July 2013 to celebrate the achievements of the week.

As part of the extended learning opportunities available, all students will be expected to take part in a range of activities both in and out of school. The cost of each project is £20 per student and this will cover all resources, trips and transport. Payment in full can be made to the Finance Office in cash or by cheque (cheques made payable to Dane Court Grammar School stating your child's name and form on the reverse) at any time, but is due by Friday 28 June 2013 at the latest. Should you wish to pay in instalments, please contact the school Finance Team to make further arrangements.

Parents should have received a letter containing further details of individual projects.
