Elephants at the museum

130313 200pxOn a cold and wet Thursday in March, five Dane Court students made their way to London to speak at the Natural History Museum with wildlife artist David Shepherd CBE. It was the tenth year that the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation had held their Global Canvas day at the Museum, which had attracted over a 1000 applicants from around the world, with 400 attending. With young minds waiting excitedly in the audience, David accompanied by Joe Weitzel, Etta Williams, Beth Smith, Abbie Coombs and Angel Francis took to the stage to talk about Elephants and their experiences with wildlife.

David told stories of his time painting in the wild and exploring Africa, before Etta, Abbie and Joe took over telling the story of poaching; a moving speech. Angel and Beth took over, sharing their experiences of spending time with elephants in the wild. The talk was finished by Mr White, who spoke passionately about the work of the Elephant Orphanage Project and his forthcoming cycle ride for education.

After the event Mr White commented: "It was amazing and heart warming to see five young people capture an audience and inspire a new generation, I was humbled and proud".
