Our Year 10 Football Team, twice winners of the Kent Cup, have been short-listed for the voting stage of this year's Kent Sports Awards promoted by Kent Regional News and Media.
Since year seven this team has lost just one game of football against other Kent opposition (played 35, won - 31, drawn - 1, lost - 3). Last year they won the U13 Kent Cup 4-0 and reached the third round of the National Cup. This year they reached the last 16 (round 8) of the National Cup, from over 800 entries. They also won the Kent Cup for the second year in a row, 3-1, a feat very rarely achieved, on both occasions beating schools with at least twice as many boys to choose from in the year group.
They have never lost a game of Futsal in Kent and have been Kent Champions in Years seven, eight and nine. In year seven and eight they represented the county in the National Tournament and this year in the Southern Regions Tournament.
The team is made up of some excellent individual players and is superbly led by an outstanding Captain but the real story is that of the collective. Their team ethic is something special to witness and they never know when they are beaten. They support each other on and off the field and are eager to learn, developing as footballers whilst coping with adolescence with admirable maturity.
They are an extraordinary group of young men who compete with courage, skill, determination and team spirit.
