Kent_Swimming_Gala_WebAt the annual swimming championship for secondary schools across Kent including Medway and the London Boroughs of Bromley and Bexley, Dane Court Grammar School finished as Top School after a series of excellent individual and relay swims.

The event was held at the recently refurbished Medway Park in Gillingham across two weekends in February.

The Junior Team (years seven, eight and nine) were particularly dominant with Lauren Joy, Laura Craig and Kyri Papa-Adams all winning Gold in their individual events.

Further Alex Wilmshurst, Harry Bradford picked up Silvers with Molly Dawson and Jamie O'Connor winning Bronze in their respective races. Daniel Jones also finished fifth in his race.

The Junior Boys cleaned up in the Relays winning Gold in both the Freestyle and Medley Relay. The Junior Girls, including Jade Jones and Chloe Gambrill, not to be outdone won Silver in Medley Relay and just missed out on a podium medal in the Freestyle Relay by less than two seconds.

The Intermediate Girls were just as successful with Jasmin Jones winning Gold and Chloe Thorpe and Maisie Cope picking up a Silver medal each. In the Relays, which also included Ruby Watson, the Intermediate Girls won Gold in Medley Relay but just lost out to Dartford Girls Grammar in the Freestyle Relay and had to settle for Silver.

In the Senior category Dane Court only had a single swimmer but Philip Kearney took full advantage and won Gold in the 200m Individual Medley.

As a consequence, Laura Craig, Molly Dawson, Lauren Joy, Jasmine Jones, Chloe Thorpe, Maisie Cope, Alex Wilmshurst, Harry Bradford, Jamie O'Connor, Kyri Papa-Adams and Philip Kearney have all been invited to represent Kent Schools in the annual inter-county match against Surrey on Friday 1 April.
